Andy Roddick lets fly in new Babolat ident

The world No.8 lets loose a flurry of unorthadox strokes for a new Babolat commercial, before using 'the power of the shoe' to silence his irritating opponent

Flailing his arms and swinging erratically, rarely has Andy Roddick appeared so riled up; but it appears the fly’s the limit for the world No.8 in a new commercial for Babolat.

The humorous collaboration between Roddick and his racket and shoe sponsor has the former US Open champ thrashing around a changing room trying to silence a fly that ‘bugs’ him.

And when his unorthodox changing room strokes prove ineffective, the 27-year-old resorts to the power of the shoe – The Propulse 2 Titanium to be precise – to deal with the little blighter.

The former world No.1 has featured in his fair share of amusing commercials over the years.

In 2006, he took on Pong in a commercial for American Express – eventually finding a way past the solid block on the opposite side of the net with a cheeky ‘dolly’ serve that bounces several times before reaching the end of the court.

The irony was not lost on us.

In another ad, the famously big-serving Roddick managed to confuse the masses in a powerade commercial that saw him embed a gargantuan serve an inch deep into a clay court. The video sparked a long-running debate about whether the incident had actually happened.
