The deadline to enter Barclays’ unsung tennis hero competition is fast approaching so get your nominations in now for a chance to carry the trophy onto court at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals
Barclays wants to celebrate and reward the most deserving unsung tennis heroes in Britain by offering one lucky winner the chance to take part in the prize giving ceremony at the conclusion of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals at The O2 in London on November 12.
“Up and down the country there are thousands of people who give up their time to make things happen in community sport without whom the vast majority would not have sport to play,” said David Wheldon, Barclays Managing Director.
“As sponsor of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals we want to find the unsung hero who helps tennis in the community; the member who manages the club fixtures; the grounds person who makes sure courts are in pristine condition; the coach who helps the next generation of tennis players, or even the parent who ferries the next generation of tennis players about. All of these and many others contribute much to their communities and we want to recognise them for their selfless dedication.”
The prize also includes travel, overnight accommodation and two tickets for the final. So, what are you waiting for? The Barclays unsung tennis hero competition is just one of numerous community sports initiatives introduced by Barclays over the last decade. Barclays Spaces for Sports was launched in the UK in 2004 and spread globally four years later. The community programme aims to reinvigorate underprivileged areas in countries around the world through the power of sport. To-date Barclays have invested more than £37million in delivering 200 sustainable sports sites in the UK alone, supporting more than 40 different sports.
