Carlos Moya suffers hip-bone injury

Carlos Moyas agent Benito Perez-Barbadillo has confirmed that the Spaniards career is on indefinite hold due to the 32 year-old suffering from a lesion to a tendon and ischium on his hip-bone.

Moya is currently awaiting the results from a test that was conducted in Miami, where he was accompanied by his coach Luis Lobo and physiotherapist Pedro Salas.

Its still too early to know when Ill be able to return to competition, said Moya. Its certain that I want to return but only when Im firing at 100 per cent physically and mentally.

The former world No.1 has been suffering from a weakness in his right leg for the past 11 months, which has prevented the clay court specialist from performing to the maximum level required by the sport.

Moya had hoped it was nothing too serious, so the news has certainly come as a real shock to the Spaniard. Its a real hammer blow. I wasnt expecting this and it has put a halt to all my plans, said the 32 year-old. I have had pains over the last few months but we were hoping that it wasnt serious and that I could resume tennis little by little.

On his return to Spain, Moya will continue to undergo tests in Madrid to try to identify the extent of the injury and the time needed for a complete recovery.

Its early yet to know when I can come back to compete again. What I do know is that I want to return and do so when Im 100 per cent physically and mentally.
