The German world No.6 will meet Serena Williams in the final after she defeated the 24-year-old 7-5 6-2.

Konta, who was ranked No.144 when she lost in the first round of qualifying 12 months ago, is set to break into the top 30 after her run to the semi-finals in Melbourne.

“At this level you’re constantly being tested,” said Konta. “Whoever you’re playing, your limits are constantly being pushed. I’m really happy how I was able to keep pushing my threshold, as well, keep gaining lots of new experiences, and just keep improving.”
