If all the action from Wimbledon 2009 is making you want to pick up a racket and give tennis a go yourself then visit the brand new website www.eparktennis.com.

Launched by former world No.4 Tim Henman on behalf of the Tennis Foundation, this new website is a virtual tennis club which aims to connect players and suggest places to play.

‘The whole setting of Centre Court… it was a defining moment’

If you visit eparktennis.com you can find your nearest publicly-owned court, which means you could be playing in a gorgeous park – maybe even for free. Plus you’ll find people to play with.

tennishead conducted a quick experiment to see where players that live within the London postcode of SW19 but aren’t one of the 375 full members of the All England Club – or any of the other private tennis clubs in the area – could have a hit.

Within a two-mile radius of the hallowed turf of Centre Court you could play on one of 20 courts in Wimbledon Park, drop by SW20 to John Innes Park or even venture to SW18 and play on one of ten courts in King Georges Park – or what about an exclusive game on the lone court in Wandsworth Park?

Talking exclusively to tennishead before this year’s Championships, Henman said that as a junior he was “completely inspired by Wimbledon”.

“I started playing when I was very young because my parents and my brothers played.

“I came to Wimbledon to watch when I was five or six years old and I saw Bjorn Borg play in the first round and I saw the whole setting of Centre Court, the grass and everything, it was kind of a defining moment because I remember thinking, ‘Wow, I want to be part of that.’”

So if you reckon you could be the next Tim Henman – or Andy Murray or Anne Keothavong – or just fancy some exercise playing a great sport check out www.eparktennis.com.

Looks great, I love playing in parks and always want to know where new places are to play. I went on to www.eparktennis.com and gave it a go, it found my local and a couple I didnt know about. I have logged in and am now running a tournament through it, which is great. Not sure I am good enough to get on centre court, but Im loving the sunshine.

Saw adverts for these at Wimbledon yesterday… about time somebody did this. I have been looking for local courts with no luck. epark put them all on the map for me!
