ITV Sport will be broadcasting live action from this year’s BlackRock Tennis Masters 2008 at the Royal Albert Hall, it has been confirmed.

Live coverage and highlights packages will be shown on ITV4 and ITV.com throughout the six-day event which runs from 2-7 December. The tournament is the season finale to the BlackRock Tour of Champions, a year-long circuit that features some of the game’s greatest players.

‘This is a message for Pete Sampras, Stefan Edberg, Goran Ivanisevic and all of you other guys. I’m not coming to London to lose.’ – McEnroe

Fourteen-time grand slam winner Pete Sampras takes top billing at this year’s event and will be battling it out with the likes of Stefan Edberg, Goran Ivanisevic, John McEnroe, Cedric Pioline, Guy Forget and British wildcards Greg Rusedski and Jeremy Bates.

The draw for the event was made recently and Sampras will open up against fellow American McEnroe on Wednesday night. Rusedski and Forget open proceedings on Tuesday afternoon.

“This is a message for Pete Sampras, Stefan Edberg, Goran Ivanisevic and all of you other guys. I’m not coming to London to lose,” said McEnroe after the schedule was announced.

As well as some entertaining singles, there’s also a doubles event that boasts greats such as Pat Cash, Henri Leconte, Mark Woodforde and trick shot master Mansour Bahrami.

In addition to ITV4’s coverage, two matches will be broadcast exclusively live on ITV.com and via a new red button interactive service. The website will also feature behind the scenes video blogs and player interviews throughout the week.

ITV’s coverage will feature commentary from John Lloyd and Simon Reed.
