Former world No.1 Jennifer Capriati is making a comeback this summer in the reality show The Superstars.
Sadly the tennis legend won’t be carrying a racket, instead Capriati will be hitting the pool, riding a bike or commandeering a kayak.
The three-time Grand Slam champion has signed on to compete in the US television show, which will debut on 23 June on ABC Television.
The reality show is a revival of the ‘old school’ Wide World Of Sports Superstars competition and will feature pairs of athletes competing against pairs of celebrities. Capriati is planned to partner former Baywatch lifeguard David Charvet.
The six-week summer series – which is taking place at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas – will feature eight teams competing weekly with one team eliminated each week leading up to the final.
Competitors’ athletic prowess and strategy will be put to the test to excel in events including swimming, biking, running and kayaking, in addition to other head-to-head athletic challenges everyone must try to conquer.
Over her phenomenal career Capriati won three Grand Slam titles, 14 singles titles, one doubles title and a gold medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.
