Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park served up some tricky conditions on day three of the AEGON International and the big names went flying.
First to go was top seed in the men’s event, Russian Igor Andreev, and he was quickly followed through the trap door by third seed in the women’s event, Jelena Jankovic.
The surprises kept coming as French Open champ Svetlana Kuznetsova was made to look very ordinary by Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak.
And late in the day fourth seed Vera Zvonareva’s Wimbledon preparations were dealt a blow when she lost to Frenchwoman Amelie Mauresmo.
