Elena Dementieva

Dinara Safina on if she is working specifically on the mental side of her game…
“If I would work, I would not serve 250 double‑faults today, (laughter) because it’s just my brain sometimes doesn’t do the things that I have to do.”

So where did these 15 double-faults come from?
“15? I thought it was much more (smiling).”

Serena Williams on what memories, if any, she has of the match six years ago when she beat her sister Venus here…
“Yeah, I don’t remember that. I’m gonna YouTube it, though.”

Serena on what trophy makes the best makeup brush holder…
“My Indian Wells ‘03 (smiling). Or was it ‘01? Whatever year that was.”

Serena on if she has spent much time with her sister in the past week, or do they lead separate lives here at Wimbledon…
“No, we live together, so I’ll see her tonight again.”

How about at breakfast this morning?
“No. She played earlier than me, so she left. We play doubles together, too. We hang out a lot.”

So no chance of getting bored of one another since you spend that much time together?
“Never. Never.”

Venus Williams on what’s more important, the No.1 ranking or another Grand Slam?
“Everyone picks the Grand Slam, of course. When your career’s over you count ’em up, so I’d have to say Grand Slam, like anyone else.”

Venus on how long she’d like to play, and how long does she think Serena would like to play…
“Well, we’ve talked about playing the 2012 Olympics. We’ve talked about playing doubles in the 2016, because we hope it goes to Chicago. That’s pretty much where our timeline is heading. So somewhere in between.”

Elena Dementieva on if she thinks we can have an all-Russian final instead of an all-Williams final, which most people would be expecting…
“Can we play just two finals instead?”

Elena on if she saw the Murray night match…
“Yeah, I was watching Andy Murray. I was really surprised when I came back after dinner that they are still playing. I wasn’t sure is it live or not. So it took me a couple of minutes to realise it’s 10pm and they are still playing.

“So I’m sure it was a big match and a historical moment for Wimbledon, playing that late under the roof. Just a big moment.”

Agnieszka Radwanska on if she can imagine anyone but Venus and Serena in the final at this point…
“Well, I saw that Serena’s also playing good. But it can be the same final like last year, for sure.”
