
San Agostino
An all-inclusive Greek beach resort with tennis, watersports and spa.
Location: The resort’s closest large town is Kalamata, which is on the Messinian Gulf on the south coast of the Greek mainland.
Getting there: The hotel is a 25-minute road trip from Kalamata airport. Excel Airways (a charter airline) flies guests to Kalamata from Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle.
Tennis facilities: Ten artificial grass courts (four floodlit). Tennis rackets, balls and restringing are all available at the tennis club, which also houses a small bar.
Coaching: In the high-season there are eight qualified pros (provided by Service Line, a UK-based tennis specialist), who lay on a high-quality and fun-filled tennis programme. There are group and individual lessons available for adults and children and some original and unique tournaments and competitions.
Eating: A good variety of Greek and international themed dining and child friendly food too. As well as the main restaurant, there’s also a rooftop Italian restaurant overlooking the sea and a traditional Greek Taverna. There’s a pool bar and minimarket too.
Drinking: Choose from three bars, including one by the tennis courts.
Sleeping: Guests are accommodated in either the main hotel or bungalows in the grounds. There are family suites, family rooms, twin doubles and singles which can take up to 550 visitors.
What else? The San Agostino resort earned a top 10 slot in the ACE Magazine tennis travel awards and has a wide variety of family-friendly activities. There are two outdoor swimming pools, a Viva Health & Beauty Salon, volleyball, water polo, table tennis, six children’s clubs, a boutique, childcare, sailing courses, windsurfing courses, waterskiing and wakeboarding, PADI scuba diving courses and Pilates.
