Sani Resort

A luxury beach resort in northern Greece with three hotels and six tennis courts.

Location: The Sani resort is in northern Greece in the prefecture of Halkididi, which is essentially a large peninsula in the northwestern Aegean Sea that resembles a hand with three ‘fingers’.

Getting there: Fly to Thessaloniki, which is around 45 minutes away.

Tennis facilities: There are six green clay courts at the Sani Beach Hotel and anther two courts at the Beach Club.

Coaching: The tennis programme is run by a German company, Sunball Tennis Academy. The coaches offer group and individual lessons, guest tournaments and equipment rental. For further information you can visit their website: www.sunball-tennisschule.de.

Eating: There are 16 restaurants to try during your stay regardless of which of the properties you choose as your accommodation with everything from fine dining to snacks. The best known is the Water Restaurant at the Sani Asterias Suites Hotel.

Sleeping: the most recent addition to the resort’s accommodation portfolio, the five-star Asterias Suites have the most exclusive feel of all the options. There are three more choices though the four-star Sani Beach Hotel (built in 1984) with its great beach bar, the five-star Porto Sani Village hotel (soon to be refurbished and with a great pool and a spa) or the oldest of the lot, the Beach Club, which was the first property on the site back in 1971.

What else? Plenty to keep you occupied. There’s a stunning marina with its dining and entertainment, a spa, swimming in either the pools or the sea, loads of bars, children’s clubs, shops and watersports in the beautiful Aegean Sea. If you need a change of scenery try a day trip to Thessaloniki.
